We, the Wuppertal Kurrende, are the oldest boys’ choir of the Protestant Church in the Rhineland. We belong to the first row of cultural ambassadors of our city. As an independent and non-profit institution of the Kirchenkreis Wuppertal, we combine excellent musical education with committed youth work. We not only enrich the cultural life in Wuppertal with our concerts, such as the popular Christmas Quempas. In addition, we also represent the city of Wuppertal far beyond the region with high-quality musical culture: for example through the German choir competitions won in 1998 and 2006, and with our concert tours in Germany and abroad, most recently to the USA, England and Poland.
We offer an open approach to music and contribute to the development of important skills such as self-confidence, expressiveness and team spirit. With our kindergarten and school cooperations we give important impulses for the music pedagogical education of our children. At the same time, our varied and lively leisure activities also provide space for play and fun as well as opportunities for encounters and friendships in a large community. And we have been doing so for over ninety years, since the founding of the Wuppertal Kurrende by Erich vom Baur in 1924.
Our Kurrende Campus at Mozartstraße 35 offers a large rehearsal room and many individual lounges inside as well as a considerable outdoor area that invites you to climb, race, play football, basketball and table tennis. Visitors and musical talents are always welcome!
